Initial follow-up intervals for incidental abdominal aortic, iliac and visceral artery aneurysms.
| Aortic diameter | Initial follow-up imaging |
|---|---|
| < 2.5 cm | None |
| 2.5–2.9 cm | 5 years |
| 3.0–3.4 cm | 3 years |
| 3.5–3.9 cm | 2 years |
| 4.0–4.4 cm | 1 year |
| 4.5–4.9 cm | 6 months + consider referral |
| 5.0–5.5 cm | 3–6 months + consider referral |
| Aneurysm | Management |
|---|---|
| Common iliac 3.0–3.5 cm | Imaging at ~6 months, then yearly |
| Common iliac > 3.5 cm | Close follow-up or treatment |
| Splenic < 2 cm | Yearly imaging |
| Splenic ≥ 2 cm | Consider endovascular treatment |
| Renal 1.0–1.5 cm | Imaging every 1–2 years |
| Renal > 1.5–2.0 cm | Consider repair |
| Other visceral ≥ 2 cm, or pancreaticoduodenal | Consider treatment |
Intervals can change with growth rate, comorbidity and life expectancy. Current vascular surgery society guidelines may use different intervals.
